Photographs of Beacon Road People (3)

from Colin Rees

This photo shows Joan Rees with Colin and Malcolm Campbell on the open patch of land where the air raid shelter used to be next to their garden at number 58. Behind the group are buildings associated with the small railway which ran through the Trading Estate. In the background to the left is one of the huge brick walls which were used as firing ranges to test ammunition and weapons.

This is Colin and Malcolm in the back garden of number 58 Beacon Road, the view is looking along the back of the houses in the direction of the hostel. The gap just behind them is where the air-raid shelter had been, and the bungalows then continued further on. In the far distance is the high bank with gorse bushes with pathways running through them where we used to play as children.

This is Colin standing next to his father's shed in his back garden. The building behind may be the old glassworks which was burned down.
